Mural Activity

On Thursday 31 May 2012, students in the Return To School Centre painted a mural on the side of the RTSC wall with members from Port Stephens Council as part of the ‘Community Connections' program. The mural was a reward for appropriate behaviour and compliance with program goals in the RTSC. Before the mural was painted students had a 2 hour planning and awareness building workshop with Shane Kennedy and Aaron about the Council's 'Community Connections' Program. The mural was designed with ‘Community' in mind, each student had input on what community means to them and how they connect with their community. This is depicted in the mural by links of chain representing different aspects of community, ranging from soccer, football, fishing, music, motorbike riding, and the sand dunes, all linked together, like our community, by the Hunter River.
